What happened

The work, in order.

The atrium display had been through three vendors in two years. Each one treated the symptoms — livestock losses, algae, salinity swings — without questioning whether a reef system belonged in a building where nobody is on call for it at 2am.

Our audit found four pieces of equipment doing overlapping jobs and a maintenance bill that had grown every year since install. Conversion let the hospital keep the glass, the cabinetry, and the sightline into the atrium while removing everything fragile about the system.

Surviving marine stock went to local reef-keepers rather than being written off. Two weeks later the tank was running freshwater on a fraction of the equipment, and it has been on a twice-monthly cadence ever since with a written log filed after every visit.

"It's the first time the lobby tank hasn't required a phone call from facilities every other week."Director of Facilities, AdventHealth Orlando
